On Monday 20 January 2025, Matthew Robertshaw defended his PhD thesis on “A Longing for Saint-Domingue / A Longing for Haiti: Haiti and the Rise and Fall of French Africa”, which he completed at York University in Toronto. On 1 February, he is starting his post as Research Fellow at the University of Waterloo, working together with the Canadian Co-PI, Daniel Gorman.
