On 10 and 11 April 2025, the GLO project held its first workshop. Hosted by the Canadian project partners at the University of Waterloo, this international event took place at the Balsillie School of International Affairs. Entitled “Global Governance Reform: Perspectives from the Twentieth Century“, the event discussed different ways in which existing forms of international order were being critiqued, and future alternatives envisaged. Across two days and seventeen papers, speakers discussed different aspects of the League of Nations, United Nations, Council of Europe and Bretton Woods institutions as well as the activities of various NGOs and other non-state actors that were active within the international realm.
The full workshop programme is available here, and the GLO team plans to disseminate findings from this event through its future publications.
